Structured, 24-Hour Care for Adolescent Males Ages 14-17

BlueRock is a community-based residential treatment center (NC Medicaid, Level II) dedicated to providing structured, 24-hour care for adolescent males ages 14-17 who are navigating behavioral and mental health challenges.

Our program offers support that is more comprehensive than outpatient care but less restrictive than a hospital setting. Students live in a safe, supervised, home-like setting with daily therapeutic groups, individual and family sessions, on-campus academics, and extensive experiential programming.

Our students benefit from continuous, cohesive support. With round-the-clock supervision, we create a secure environment where youth can focus on mastering daily living and healthy coping skills to achieve successful reentry into their home and community.

Common Questions About Who We Serve

What are the age and gender requirements for admission?

BlueRock serves males ages 14-17 with emotional, behavioral, or mental health disorders. Our relationship-based model of care and experiential approach is designed specifically to meet the needs of adolescents.

What does “Level II residential” mean?

In North Carolina, “Level II Residential Care” is a 24-hour program for youth to address behavioral or mental health needs.

Unlike most Level II programs, BlueRock provides this care on a beautiful, 25-acre campus with separate buildings for dorms, schooling, clinical programming, dining, and recreation. We have licensed clinicians, NC-licensed teacher-led academics, and experiential programming all on site.

How is Level II different from hospital programs?

Level II is community-based residential care. Daily routines emphasize skill-building (emotion regulation, communication, decision-making), healthy habits, and guided practice in real-world settings.

PRTF/hospital programs are more intensive, secure settings for acute stabilization.

We help families understand which level fits current needs.

How long is the program?

Our program is designed to be completed in 90-180 days. The actual length of stay for a student is individualized, tied to clinical goals and academic progress. We review progress frequently and plan for step-down care early.

How is safety and supervision handled?

Safety is built into our program model. BlueRock staff are constantly aware of and monitoring students on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We provide structured days, consistent expectations, and medication and wellness oversight, paired with a home-like environment to balance accountability with compassion and belonging.
