Family Involvement & Aftercare
Support for the Journey Home
At BlueRock, our goal is to prepare students and their families for a successful transition back home and smooth reentry into their community. This involves careful planning from enrollment to discharge.
Family Involvement
We consider parents and family to be essential members of the treatment team and critical to the long-term success of our program. BlueRock keeps a student’s family informed, involved, and equipped to support their teen’s growth.
Families participate in weekly family therapy sessions and parent coaching. They receive frequent communication from the treatment team, so they stay up-to-date on the student’s treatment plan, personal challenges, and breakthroughs.
Students are allowed daily phone calls to approved family members. As a student advances through the three phases of our program, they will have family visits on campus and eventually build up to week-long stays at home.
What Family Involvement Looks Like
We keep you informed, involved, and equipped. Here’s exactly what that looks like while your child or patient is in our care at BlueRock.
& Home Stays
Aftercare
From admission onward, we plan for the transition home, aligning expectations and building skills that stick.
We coordinate a personalized aftercare plan—outpatient therapy, med management, school supports, and community resources—so gains continue at home.
We also help families schedule follow-ups and clarify what success looks like in the first weeks after discharge.
A Gradual Path Back Home
Reentry isn’t a single moment — it’s a process we practice together. Family involvement grows through each of the three phases of our program: connection starts with daily phone calls and weekly family sessions, grows into visits on campus, and builds to week-long stays at home. By the time a student returns for good, the first day back isn’t a leap — it’s a step the whole family has already rehearsed.
Along the way, parent coaching helps families set healthy expectations, strengthen communication, and respond with confidence when challenges come up. Aftercare planning starts at admission, so the supports that matter — outpatient therapy, med management, and school coordination — are in place well before discharge day.

We measure a student’s progress through individual treatment plans, classroom benchmarks, behavior/mood assessments, and family feedback. The team reviews progress regularly to guide step-downs and tailor aftercare.
