John Moore

LCMHC

Executive Director

John was born and raised in Western North Carolina.  As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, his passion for increasing access to quality Mental Health services fuels the vision for BlueRock Behavioral Health.

After graduating from Appalachian State University with a BA in Advertising, John was the head of a family sign and advertising business for nearly a decade. It was during the economic downturn of 2008 when John felt the call to “do more” with his life and earned a Masters Degree in Clinical Counseling from Western Seminary in Sacramento, CA.

John’s career in behavioral health began at a small treatment facility in Davis, CA called Progress Ranch, where he served first in a maintenance role and eventually as a residential counselor. Over the past 15 years, John has held a variety of roles in the Residential field including, therapist, program director, operations director, clinical director and executive director. John frequently reminds residential staff of the tremendous growth opportunities available in Residential Services and likes to say, “If I can do it, anyone can!”

In his spare time, John enjoys spending time with his wife and children experiencing the WNC outdoors, building and refinishing furniture and biking on the road or trail.

Laura Storey

MBA

Director of Business Development

Growing up in rural South Carolina, Laura developed a deep appreciation for community and connection. Her journey has since taken her to Washington, D.C., Arizona, and ultimately led her to happily call Asheville home, where she is dedicated to making a meaningful impact.

Laura graduated from the Executive MBA program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Tarheels!). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of South Carolina, as well as a Masters of Public Administration.

With over ten years of strategic marketing expertise in the behavioral health sector, Laura serves as the Director of Business Development & Strategic Partnerships at BlueRock. In this role, she leverages her experience to strengthen connections with the community and ensure individuals and families can easily access the mental health support BlueRock provides.

Laura’s dedication to service was significantly influenced by her early career. She served as an intern to First Lady Michelle Obama at The White House, and worked as a Field Director for President Obama’s 2012 campaign. These formative experiences highlighted the power of collective action and the importance of accessible resources, inspiring her current work at BlueRock.

Outside of her professional life, Laura enjoys being in the kitchen, running, baking, and enjoying the great outdoors of Western North Carolina with her partner and pups.
