At a Glance

Ages 12-17 needing a safe, structured setting with 24/7 support. Common concerns include anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, mood dysregulation, and school refusal. Students do best here when they’re ready to build skills, follow routines, and engage in therapy on our campus in Bat Cave, NC.

Clinical Focus

Individual, group, and family therapy with skills-based work (CBT/DBT-skills), psychiatric care, and predictable daily structure. Goals center on stabilization, emotion regulation, communication, and healthy routines—supported by trauma-informed practices and experiential activities that help teens apply skills to everyday life.

Family & Aftercare

Parents and caregivers are partners. Expect weekly family therapy, coaching, and regular updates. Before discharge, we create a step-down plan including outpatient providers, skills practice, and school support. This ensures progress made in our Asheville-area adolescent residential treatment transfers back home.

School Snapshot

Our accredited on-campus school keeps learning on track with small classes and licensed teachers. We coordinate credits with home districts and can support existing IEP/504 plans, attendance challenges, and executive-function needs so academics progress alongside treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

BlueRock Behavioral Health is located in Bat Cave, NC on a 140‑acre campus in the mountains. We are located about 30 minutes south of Asheville, just off Highway 74.

Address:

41 Heros Way, Hendersonville, NC 28792

Can we tour the program?

Yes. Ask for an on-site tour or virtual walkthrough. We can also introduce you to key team members (admissions, academics, clinical) so you know who’s who.

What are the steps for admission?
  1. Call
  2. Brief phone screen
  3. Records & benefits check
  4. Clinical review
  5. Schedule admission

We guide you through each step, coordinate with current providers, and share what to expect in the first week.

Do you handle insurance verification?

Yes. We contact your NC Medicaid Standard or Tailored Plan or commercial health insurer to confirm residential Level II benefits. We also explain deductibles, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket (OOP) maximums in plain language.

What information do you need from us?

Parent/guardian and teen info, home county (helps route Medicaid plans), front/back of insurance card, current providers/meds, and any IEP/504 or testing. If you don’t have everything handy, start with the basics and we’ll help gather the rest.

How fast can my teen admit?

Timelines vary by clinical needs and insurance. Many families receive a same-day benefits check and move through review within a few days; we’ll update you at each milestone and help with interim planning if a bed date is a few days out. Admissions are coordinated as soon as clinical criteria and logistics are complete. Call us to discuss timing.

What should we pack?

Everyday clothing and layers, closed-toe shoes, personal hygiene items, and approved comfort items (e.g., photos, small journal). We’ll send a packing list and note what’s best left at home for safety reasons.

How long is the program?

Length of stay is individualized, tied to clinical goals and academic progress. We review progress frequently and plan for step-down care early.

Do you work with Medicaid Level II?

Yes. Level II is a North Carolina Medicaid designation for community-based residential treatment; we’ll confirm eligibility/benefits during your call.

Who is a typical student?

Teens dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, ADHD/ADD, learning differences, family conflict, or substance use.
